Once again, the Uclés Designation of Origin has organised a Technical Conference on ‘Sustainability in Wine from Digitalisation to Carbon Fixation’, this being the tenth edition in the Monastery of Santiago Uclés in the province of Cuenca. The conference was held on 16 December 2024 and was a meeting point for the national and regional wine sector in the region of Cuenca, where the focus was on sustainability through digitalisation and automation of the sector, as well as looking at the issue of carbon footprint and carbon sequestration, which has been on the rise for many years now. Throughout the day, success stories of key projects and initiatives to promote triple sustainability in the sector were presented, including the LIFECLIMAWIN project.
Luis Valiño, scientific researcher at ICB-CSIC, as director of the LIFECLIMAWIN project, gave all attendees an overview of the project which was followed by Ana Cervera-Mata, postdoctoral researcher at CEBAS-CSIC and Javier Carroquino, director of technology and strategy of INTERGIA and coordinator of the LIFECLIMAWIN project, who explained the main advances of the technical work packages, concluding with Jaime Postigo, CEO of Bodega Bosque de Matasnos, who gave a more in-depth presentation of the winery that is housing the different prototypes.
For its implementation, LIFE CLIMAWIN has a consortium led by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), which will work for 42 months together with the University of Zaragoza, the company Intergia Energía Sostenible SL, the Bodega Bosque de Matasnos and the Plataforma Tecnológica del Vino.
This initiative, 101113948 – LIFE22-CCM-ES-CLIMAWIN, which runs from July 2023 to December 2026, has a budget of 994,195.02€ and has received funding of 596,516.82€ from the European Union’s LIFE Programme.
